Overview
Dr Kahler is an apothecary-surgeon in Dorchester, England in 1843. His beloved wife, Anabelle, succumbs to an illness
that he believes he ought to have been able to cure. Inconsolable at his loss, he grieves day in and day out, only comforted by his
local priest and his working assistant Mr "Rafferty" — the latter of whom he unfortunately begins to develop affections for.
Dr Kahler must learn to juggle mourning his wife and loving anew, with all the difficulties of the era
that come with that new love being an Indian man.
